Venezuela earthquake chaos: Rumors circulate concerning abducted children in the aftermath of the catastrophe

With nearly 50,000 people reported missing, rescue teams continue pulling children from the rubble, often in shock, sometimes without identification, and in some cases without family members to immediately claim them. A humanitarian crisis of this scale, where records get lost or communications are down, families are displaced, it creates confusion at every level. And that’s where some of these claims and rumors are starting to take hold. Some journalists and local voices have alleged that children are being mistakenly registered or misidentified or even intentionally separated from their families during evacuations and medical triage. One reporter even described claims surrounding children being moved between facilities without clear documentation.
