Strikes continue in the Middle East, and President Trump doesn’t seem to have a strategy to stop the violence. Instead, it sounds like he’s ready for more. The strikes are meant to bring Iran to the negotiating table. Trump today still believes that escalation can happen while diplomacy is underway. This explains a recent report that he sent the Iraqi prime minister home after a meeting last week with a secret request to Iran to start negotiating again. Iran, of course, rejected the offer.
